5 Things You Must Know About Airsoft Weapons

Airsoft guns are sometimes also known as soft air guns and are usually powered by gas, spring or electric power. These are guns that will shoot small plastic pellets, typically six millimeters or eight millimeters around, though there is some debate as to whether the spring powered weapons are actually air guns at all. Some of these airsoft guns are used for playing airsoft, a sport that is sort of like paintball except that airsoft is usually done in a military action simulation with clear objectives and not a last player standing wins kind of game.

There are several factors you will want to consider when determining the quality of the airsoft gun you might be thinking of purchasing. First and foremost, do not get suckered in by people promising more power. Power is not the only quality you want to look for; precision is just as important. You will want to look at the number of feet per second at which the airsoft gun shoots that number is how fast the pellets will be shot from the gun. If the gun can be practiced indoors or used by younger players, the quality probably isnt quite what you want it to be. You are looking for something that can be used at a close range without giving you problems.

While airsoft guns are not considered a firearm by the federal government, you will want to check and see how your city defines a firearm as some cities include airsoft guns in their list of dangerous weapons. You will also want to make sure that your barrel has an orange tip as the orange tip is what identifies it as an airsoft gun and not a firearm. Make sure that the airsoft trademarks are in legal agreement with the firearm manufacturer that the airsoft gun is modeled after. If there was no agreement to reproduce that particular firearm as an airsoft weapon, the airsoft companys trademarks must be removed.
There are four kinds of protective gear that you should wear when you use airsoft weapons: face masks, chest and neck protectors, shin and knee protectors and barrel plugs. If you are an airsoft sniper you will also want military camouflage to help you blend in with your surroundings. You might also want to think about getting some gloves because using gloves can help you to avoid getting hurt should your hands or fingers get struck.

It is vital that you take good care of your airsoft weapon. You should make sure to keep the guns barrels clean, especially if you are using the airsoft weapon in a sandy environment and you should take care, especially if you own an AEG, to fire a couple of shots in the guns semi-automatic mode to make the gearbox spring decompress after you are done firing. If you are using a gas gun, you should make sure to leave the magazine pressurized so that none of the seals break and if you need to touch up the paint on your airsoft gun; Krylon type paint should be used.
